Aigues-Mortes, a town of 8,400 residents situated in the Petite Camargue on the Mediterranean, boasts remarkable ramparts that are well preserved and listed as world heritage by UNESCO, serving as a testament to the area’s turbulent past. To enter the heart of the town, visitors can pass through one of the monumental gates in the ramparts, such as the porte des Cordeliers, porte Saint-Antoine, porte des Galions, porte de la Reine, porte de la Gardette, or porte de l’Organeau.
